Angerame alternates extreme close-ups of his many rejection slips with pointed compilation. I was hoping to strike it rich on our honeymoon in Reno. In a way I did, seeing that the camera was filled with very rich imagery in recording this visual journal of our brief visit. The soundtrack is a creation of Katie Steinorth who translated the Buddhist chant of Om Ma Ni Pad Me Hum into the words oh honey, bring me home.

A comic book/collage film. The images are taken from commercials (35mm and 16mm) and super-8. Sections of the frames were cut out and then placed into super-8 film frames which had been painted upon, a mouth here, a leg there. This film can also be read like a comic on the rewinds. The film was blown up to 16mm. Ironically my hope had been to keep the film in super-8 as a discourse on gauge chauvinism, one of the implications in the title.

" YOU THE BETTER is a film based on games of chance, and as games such as roulette, or craps go, this one is closed- meaning that the player cannot really affect the outcome. A team of uniformed players, led by the artist Ashley Bickerton, performs the mechanics of a game servicing an off-camera betting entity, the "House". Although the game keeps changing and players are swapped out, one thing remains the same, the "House" is hidden and controls the bets, the "chance" of winning is nil. The game, in fact, is not between the players, but rather between the "House" and the "Bettor". E.B. 1983
